March 25th – April 7th, 2024

The last week of March brought our first "weather days" of the spring 2024 season. The Sioux Falls area received some much-needed moisture around the Easter Holiday Weekend and a couple days off were needed to dry out the site. During this two week period, the focus of work included:

  • Mass Earthwork/Excavation: Soukup continued with grading on the north end of the site, including the entrance road to the future clubhouse, the pad of the maintenance facility and placement of berms along Slip Up Creek Rd, around the clubhouse, parking lot and maintenance facility. On the golf course, their team continued to clear and burn debris as well as mass dirt work on the driving range, #1, #3 and #4.
  • Golf Course Construction: The job site trailer and placement for equipment was established in the NW corner of the site. The team installed more silt fencing along Slip Up Creek to control erosion. Spent a considerable amount of time removing trees and staking additional locations on the golf course. Twenty pallets of golf course irrigation supplies arrived on site in preparation for the beginning of installation in May
  • Golf Hole Shaping: Johnny Christianson (lead shaper) spent most of the week on the east side of Slip Up Creek shaping hole #13 green, fairway approach and bunkers. Our second shaper, Jim King, arrived this week and began the rough shaping of #7 green complex.
